Comprehensive Sound Services is a company that provides a wide variety of video and audio services to educational groups, professional musicians, civic organizations, music education, festivals, clinics, and competitions.

We are located in Greene, IA but travel throughout the country providing high quality services to you, our valued customer.

Rick Chitty, founder and president of CSS, has many years of experience in the sound and recording field.  When Rick started Comprehensive Sound Services he brought a music educator’s understanding to the fields of sound and recording, having taught instrumental and vocal music at all levels from elementary to university.  As director of the audio recording degree program at The Ohio State University, he has acquired an additional perspective into the need for classes aimed at musicians, music educators and their students.

As a recording engineer, Mr. Chitty has recorded state, regional, and national conventions of vocal and instrumental music organizations.  Comprehensive Sound has been audio recording contractor to the Iowa All-State Concert for the past 24 years.  In the field of multi-track recording, his recordings of ensembles have been nationally and internationally recognized with invitations to perform.  In addition to large events requiring strategic planning and professional execution, Rick also understands the perspective and needs of the classroom teacher who needs to set up one microphone to record one audition.
